Chima Sean Okoroji (born April 19, 1997 in Munich ) is an English soccer player who is on loan from SC Freiburg to SC Paderborn 07 .
Career
Okoroji was born in Munich as the son of an Englishwoman and a Nigerian and is only a British citizen. He started playing soccer in the youth team at TSV Grünwald and joined the youth team at FC Bayern Munich in 2004 . Still a regular player in youth B, he moved to FC Augsburg after half a year of A youth, including four appearances in the UEFA Youth League against AS Roma and Manchester City , with whom he played at the end of the season relegated from the A-Juniors-Bundesliga . In the 2015/16 season he played for the second team of FC Augsburg for the first time in the Regionalliga Bayern , with the A-Jugend, meanwhile, as the champions of the Bayernliga, he was promoted directly again. In the 2016/17 season he was a regular player on the left defensive side in the Augsburg reserve team with 33 appearances.
In the summer of 2017 he moved to SC Freiburg , he for the second team 35 Regional games in the season 2017/18 denied. In the summer of 2018, Okoroji moved up to the professional squad, in which he was scheduled to replace the nominal left-back Christian Günter . He made his competitive debut for the Freiburg Bundesliga team in October 2018 as a substitute in a 1-1 draw in the Bundesliga in the Berlin Olympic Stadium against Hertha BSC .
For the 2019/20 season, Okoroji switched to second division SSV Jahn Regensburg for a year on loan to replace the loaned Alexander Nandzik . At Jahn he was able to establish himself under his new head coach Mersad Selimbegović , who preferred to play with a back four, right away on the left defensive flank and was in the starting line-up in each of the 35 season games. With a balanced duel rate of 50.09%, Okoroji landed in the midfield of the league.
Without returning to the Breisgau, another loan followed within the 2nd Bundesliga, this time for the 2020/21 season to the relegated SC Paderborn 07 .
