Christian Strohdiek (born January 22, 1988 in Paderborn ) is a German football player who is under contract with SC Paderborn 07 .

Career

SC Paderborn

Strohdiek started playing football at TuRa Elsen and, after having played through all of the youth teams at SC Paderborn 07, signed a three-year professional contract in 2007, but was not used in its premier season. He received it in the 2008/09 season for five minutes in the second leg of the relegation to the 2nd Bundesliga against VfL Osnabrück . In the preparation for the 2009/10 season, he was also able to play in friendly games a. a. Gather match practice against Borussia Dortmund . Due to injury-related failures of the set central defenders, Strohdiek was increasingly used in the second division season 2009/10 and was regularly in the starting line-up in the 2010/11 season. He made his second division debut on November 6, 2009 (12th matchday) in a 2-1 win at home against TuS Koblenz . With a goal in 27 league games, he contributed to his club's first promotion to the Bundesliga in 2014.

Fortuna Dusseldorf

On May 12, 2015 Fortuna Düsseldorf announced the commitment of Christian Strohdiek; he received a three-year contract. There he was initially a regular player in his role as central defender. However, he made several mistakes that resulted in goals conceded; the club itself was in a relegation battle throughout the season. As a result, coach Frank Kramer banished him to the stands. In addition, the club signed a player in the same position with Alexander Madlung . After Kramer's release, he was pardoned, but under his successors Peter Hermann , Marco Kurz and Friedhelm Funkel, he could no longer get beyond the role of supplementary player. Already during the winter break there was speculation about a return to Paderborn. During the second half of the season he was only used in the game against VfL Bochum over the full playing time, in which Fortuna lost 3-1. Under Funkel he only came into play in the final phase. The former announced after relegation that he was no longer planning with several players - including Strohdiek - despite valid contracts. In the meantime, Fortuna Düsseldorf was considering "banishing" him to a separate training group together with Karim Haggui , Sercan Sararer , Mike van Duinen and Didier Ya Konan , who were also retired .

Return to Paderborn

On June 21, 2016 he returned to SC Paderborn. The defender was appointed team captain for the third division season 2017/18 . In spring 2018 he rose to the second division with East Westphalia and a year later to the Bundesliga . In the 1-1 draw against RB Leipzig on matchday 30 of the 2019/20 Bundesliga season, Strohdiek scored his first Bundesliga goal for Paderborn.
