Sebastian Schonlau (born August 5, 1994 in Warburg ) is a German soccer player . He is under contract with SC Paderborn 07 .

Career

In his youth he first played in his hometown Warburg for the Sportfreunde Warburg 08 and switched to the U-14 of SC Paderborn 07 . After two years he returned to Warburg; In 2012, he rejoined SC Paderborn 07. He played the 2014/15 season on loan for SC Verl . On the 2nd match day of the 2015/16 season he made his professional debut in the 2nd Bundesliga in the away win against Fortuna Düsseldorf when he came on for Mahir Sağlık in the 76th minute . As a result, he lived eventful years in Paderborn. At the end of the season he was relegated to the 3rd division with his club . There he became a regular player in central defense, but could not prevent Paderborn from being relegated to the Regionalliga Wet at the end of the third division season 2016/17 ; only because second division relegated TSV 1860 Munich did not receive a license for the third division, the class could be held. In the following season he was again a regular player and only missed three games. In the end he was even able to get promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga with Paderborn. As a climber, Paderborn managed to make the direct march into the Bundesliga in the 2018/19 season with him as a regular defender and second in the table . There he missed the season opener due to a sore tendon, but was able to fight his way back into the squad from the 7th matchday on. On October 26, 2019 (9th matchday), he headed his first Bundesliga goal in a 2-0 win in the home game against Fortuna Düsseldorf.
