Gerrit Holtmann (born March 25, 1995 in the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen ) is a German football player . He can play offensively and defensively on the left wing and is under contract with VfL Bochum .

Career

Holtmann, who comes from Bremerhaven , started his career at Sparta Bremerhaven and then played for the Leher Gymnastics Association and OSC Bremerhaven before moving to Werder Bremen's youth team in 2010 . In 2013 he returned to Bremerhaven for a year.

For the 2014/15 season , Holtmann moved to the second team from Eintracht Braunschweig in the Regionalliga Nord . There he made his debut on July 27, 2014 in a 2-2 game at SK Hansa from Lüneburg . He scored his first goal on August 27, 2014 in a 3-0 win against the Free Turnerschaft Braunschweig with the goal to make it 1-0 in the 32nd minute. On April 27, 2015, he was appointed to the first team for the first time and made his debut in the 2nd Bundesliga . In the 4-2 home win against FC Erzgebirge Aue he was in the starting line-up and prepared the goal to make it 1-0. He scored his first goal in the second division on September 13, 2015 in a 3-0 win in the away game against FSV Frankfurt , when he was substituted on after 59 minutes and scored 2-0 in the 71st minute. His contract with Eintracht Braunschweig ran until June 30, 2019.

For the 2016/17 season , Holtmann switched to Bundesliga club 1. FSV Mainz 05 , with whom he signed a contract that ran until June 30, 2020. On September 21, 2016 he made his debut in the 2-1 away win against Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga and prepared the Mainz winning goal for Pablo de Blasis in the last minute of the game. On December 2, 2017, the 14th matchday of the 2017/18 season , Holtmann scored his first Bundesliga goal in a 3-1 home defeat against FC Augsburg .

For the 2019/20 season , Bundesliga promoted SC Paderborn 07 signed a one-year loan deal for the winger with Mainz 05; Holtmann played the left flank defensively and offensively, but could not keep the class with the team and then returned to Mainz. There he took part in part of the preparation, but already moved to the second division VfL Bochum at the beginning of August 2020 , with whom he signed a three-year contract.

National team

On October 7, 2015, Holtmann played for the German U20 national team for the first time in the 1-0 win in the Mercedes-Benz Elite Cup against Turkey , after being substituted for Maximilian Dittgen in the 62nd minute . Holtmann was also used in the other two games of the tournament. His mother is Philippina ; Holtmann turned down an offer to play for the Philippine Association.
