career
In the club
Before Blum joined the youth department of SV Waldhof Mannheim , he played in his hometown Frankenthal at SC Rot-Weiß. He left Mannheim in 2004 and joined 1. FC Kaiserslautern . He stayed there for three years until he moved to FC Schalke 04 , for which he was used in the B and A Junior Bundesliga . In 2009 he returned to the Waldhöfern. Here he scored four goals in eleven games, also in the top German youth division, and was then committed to the professional team of third division SV Sandhausen during the winter break of the 2009/10 season . Nevertheless, he first played in the seventh-class state league Rhein-Neckar for the second team, before he played for the first team on March 23, 2010. In the 3-0 away defeat against the reserves of VfB Stuttgart , he was substituted on for Daniel Jungwirth in the 59th minute when the score was 1-0. It was used eight times in the first half of the season. In the 2011/12 season he played in the SVS's starting line-up. Even if he was only used three times over the full game the following year, he was still a fixture on the left offensive side. In 2012 the team became champions in the 3rd division and was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga. For the 2012/13 season , SV Sandhausen awarded Blum to Karlsruher SC .
For the 2014/15 season , Blum moved to 1. FC Nürnberg , where he suffered cartilage damage while preparing for the season and was unable to complete the first half of the season. On February 15, 2015 he made his debut in the FCN jersey in a 3-1 win against 1. FC Union Berlin . On February 22, 2015 at Fortuna Düsseldorf, he scored the first goal for his new club after being substituted on for Guido Burgstaller in the 66th minute of the game .
For the 2016/17 season , Blum moved to Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt , where he signed a one-year contract with an option for two more years. On September 10, 2016, he made his debut in the 1-0 defeat against SV Darmstadt 98 in the Bundesliga. He scored his first Bundesliga goal in a 2-2 draw against RB Leipzig on May 20, 2017, the 34th matchday of that season. In May 2018, Blum won the DFB Cup with Eintracht after beating FC Bayern Munich 3-1 in the final .
At the end of the transfer period in August 2018, Blum was loaned to the Spanish second division UD Las Palmas until the end of the 2018/19 season. The club then had a purchase option, which, however, remained unused. Blum came to 23 second division appearances (13 times in the starting XI), in which he scored a goal.
For the 2019/20 season, Blum moved to the second division VfL Bochum , with whom he received a contract until June 30, 2021.
In the national team
Blum was appointed several times for various junior teams of the DFB . In the U16 he scored in 2006 in a game against Northern Ireland after 6.28 seconds the fastest goal so far in the German junior national teams. His coach Jörg Daniel described Blum as fast and strong attacking and praised his strong left foot as well as his precise shots and crosses. On February 9, 2011, Blum made his debut for the German U20 national team against the Italian U20 selection when he was substituted on for Shervin Radjabali-Fardi in the 46th minute of play .
