Love, Lies, Passion (Original title: One Life to Live ) is an American soap opera that premiered in the United States on July 15, 1968. The last episode of the series ran on January 13, 2012 on US broadcaster ABC . Over 11,000 episodes were created between 1968 and 2011. This makes it one of the longest-running television series in the world . The concept for the series came from Agnes Nixon , who was also responsible for the daily soap All My Children (also on ABC).

history

Love, Lie, Passion is set in the fictional city of Llanview in Pennsylvania , a suburb of Philadelphia , which is modeled after the Chestnut Hill district . Originally the plot was on the rich Lord family and the middle class families Riley and Wolek. The series has often been called "the strangest soap opera in the US" because it dealt with very idiosyncratic characters early on and did not stop at social problems. This attitude has remained true to the end.

From the beginning of the series, the "Victoria Lord" played a major role. Since 1971 "Victoria" has been portrayed by Erika Slezak, who has thus been involved in love, lies and passion for the longest of all actors . Slezak also received six Daytime Emmy Awards for her role .

Former actors on the series who made their breakthrough thereafter included a. Tom Berenger , Yasmine Bleeth , Jonathan Brandis , Laurence Fishburne , Richard Grieco , Tommy Lee Jones , Judith Light , Ryan Phillippe , Blair Underwood , Casper Van Dien and Kellie Waymire .

The series also featured guest appearances by well-known stars and bands, including Sammy Davis Jr. , Bill Medley , Mary J. Blige , Nelly Furtado , Timbaland and bands like Simply Red , Lifehouse and OneRepublic .

German broadcasts

In Germany, the series was first broadcast on ProSieben from January to May 1989 , until it disappeared again for the time being. There was a second attempt from March to August 1990. After that, reruns were still to be seen on kabel eins in 1992 , before the series disappeared entirely from German free TV. The few episodes that aired were episodes from the 1980s.

In 1996 and then again from February 1997 to January 1998, further episodes were shown on the pay-TV platform DF1 , where they were broadcast on the Herz & Co. station.

background

The series made headlines in the United States when actress Andrea Evans, who played the beast Tina Lord, was repeatedly harassed by a stalker . He eventually even broke into ABC Studios with the plan to kill Evans. The actress herself didn't speak about it until years later, citing this as the real reason why she left the series after twelve years - with a few years of interruption - in 1990. She then withdrew completely from the public, until she finally took on a leading role in the daily soap Reich und schön again in 1999. In June 2008, in keeping with the show's 40th anniversary, Andrea Evans returned to love, lies, passion .

The series had some crossovers with the other two successful ABC soaps All My Children and General Hospital . So she is part of a series universe of All My Children , General Hospital , General Hospital: Night Shift , Love, Lies, Passion , Loving - ways of love , Port Charles and The City .

In 2002 the series won the Daytime Emmy Award (Category: Best Drama Series) for the only time .

In early 2013 it was converted from a television series into a web series ; it should be available from April 29, 2013 on The Online Network via Hulu and iTunes .
