Agnes Nixon (born Eckhardt ; born December 10, 1922 in Chicago , Illinois , † September 28, 2016 in Haverford , Delaware County , Pennsylvania ) was an American screenwriter and film director .

Life

Agnes Eckhardt studied at Northwestern University . She became known in the United States as the scriptwriter and film director of the soap opera All My Children . She worked as a television director for the television series Love, Lies, and Passion from 1968 to 1975 and for the television series All My Children from 1970 to 1981. After that she wrote only as a screenwriter for All My Children , until 1983 together with Wisner Washam , then 1988-1992 with him and Lorraine Broderick . Because of her many years of work and her great success in the United States, she is dubbed the " Queen of the Modern American Soap Opera ".

She was married to Robert Nixon and has four children.
