Timbaland (2010)

Timbaland (* 10. March 1972 in Norfolk , Virginia ; bourgeois Timothy Zachary Mosley ) is an American hip-hop - and Contemporary R & B - musician and producer , whose production and arrangement style since the late 1990s in these genres is very influential.

Career

Mosley grew up in Norfolk, Virginia. There he performed solo as "DJ Tiny Tim" and later with his childhood friends Missy Elliott and Melvin "Magoo" Barcliff . Mosley gained his first production experience with Elliott's band Sista. When Sista was accepted into the artist collective Swing Mob , its boss DeVante Swing Mosley integrated into his production team. Swing gave Mosley the stage name "Timbaland", based on the shoe brand Timberland, which is popular in the hip-hop scene .

When Swing Mob broke up in 1995, Elliott and Timbaland continued to work together as a songwriter / producer team. The album One in a Million by Aaliyah (1996), for which the duo wrote nine songs, achieved their greatest success to date . Timbaland also produced Ginuwine's debut album Ginuwine ... The Bachelor .

As a result, Timbaland became one of the most successful and influential producers of the late 1990s. He worked with Destiny's Child , Nicole Wray , Jay-Z and Nas , produced two albums by Missy Elliott ( Supa Dupa Fly and Da Real World ) and the second album by Ginuwine ( 100% Ginuwine ) and released the first “Timbaland - & - Magoo ”album Welcome to Our World as well as his first solo album Tim's Bio: Life from da Bassment , actually a compilation of songs produced by Timbaland by various artists.

Even after the turn of the millennium, Timbaland continued to produce successful singles and albums for various artists, including Aaliyah , Justin Timberlake , Bubba Sparxxx , Brandy and The Game . The two albums by Timbaland & Magoo, Indecent Proposal (2001) and Under Construction Part 2 (2003), were not very successful commercially.

In 2006 the internationally very successful albums Loose by Nelly Furtado and FutureSex / LoveSounds by Justin Timberlake, both produced by Timbaland, marked a new high point in Timbaland's career. Both albums and their singles reached high chart positions worldwide.

The following year Timbaland released his second solo album Shock Value . Like the first album, this included collaborations with various artists such as Elton John , Nelly Furtado, The Hives and Missy Elliott. Successful projects, among others with Madonna , OneRepublic and M. Pokora, brought him further number one positions in the worldwide charts.

Shock Value II , Timbaland's third solo album, was all about its predecessor. Timbaland again gathered numerous artists from the pop and R'n'B areas in the studio for the recordings, including Keri Hilson , Katy Perry , Justin Timberlake and Brandy (under the pseudonym Bran'Nu ). From the rock sector, Chad Kroeger (from Nickelback ) and Chris Daughtry were represented. Morning After Dark , the first single with Nelly Furtado and SoShy , was released in Germany on November 27, 2009 and entered the charts at number six. Timbaland's new album Shock Value II was released on December 4, 2009 and was placed in the middle of the international album charts.

Timbaland has been working on his next album since 2011. A track called Covers Blown with Keri Hilson has already surfaced on the internet. The first single Pass at Me with Pitbull and David Guetta was released on September 17, 2011. Instead of a regular album, the labelless mixtape King Stays King and 2019 Drop were released . In 2020 Timbaland released a remix of the Whitney Houston song I Wanna Dance With Somebody to counter the corona crisis with a beautiful voice, according to the online broadcaster ByteFM .
