DeVante Swing

DeVante Swing (born September 29, 1969 in Hampton, Virginia ; real name Donald DeGrate Jr. ) is an American record producer , songwriter and R&B singer and member of the band Jodeci .

Career

At 16 DeGrate was already recording songs with K-Ci and JoJo , which resulted in a total of 29 demo tapes. The trio sent this to various record labels and soon a reply came from Heavy D and the 1st chairman of the label Uptown Records . The group under the name "Jodeci" now got a contract.

DeGrate produced almost all of the tracks on Jodeci's three albums and in 1992 founded Swing Mob , a group of touring musicians and newcomers who were under contract with his subsidiary, Swing Mob Elektra Records . Meanwhile he took part in productions for Tupac Shakur . With him, for example, Missy Elliott , Ginuwine , Playa and Magoo became famous. Missy Elliott in particular, but also Tim " Timbaland " Mosley, benefited from the production skills they were taught by DeGrate. He produced the latest single Greenlight together with the well-known producer Jermaine Dupri .
