Joel 'JoJo' Hailey (born June 10, 1971 in Charlotte , North Carolina ) is one of the most successful American R&B artists of the 1990s.

Together with his brother Cedric and the brothers Dalvin and Donald DeGrate, he founded the band Jodeci (from the nicknames JoJo and K-Ci of the Haileys and the "De" of the DeGrates). In the first half of the 90s they were permanent representatives at the top of the R&B charts and also very successful in the pop charts (4 gold records, 3 platinum albums). They had their biggest hit in 1993 with "Lately" written by Stevie Wonder .

In 1996 the Hailey brothers went their own way as K-Ci & JoJo . Together with 2Pac they recorded the single "How Do U Want It". The song became a number 1 hit and a two-time million seller, but this was also due to the sad fact that 2Pac was killed in a shootout a few weeks after its release.

They had their own biggest hit in 1998 with “All My Life”, which not only topped the Billboard charts, but also made it into the top 10 across Europe. a. they reached number 5 in Germany.

After 3 platinum albums as a duo, after a concert scandal in 2000, things have calmed down around JoJo and his brother in recent years. Every now and then they have guest appearances on singles by other artists, JoJo is also associated with the film. The rumor of a reunion of Jodeci also persists.

Hailey has battled severe alcohol addiction for years . He went to rehab several times.
