SoShy (born September 14, 1982 ; actually Deborah Sarah Epstein ) is a French - American pop - and R'n'B - singer-songwriter . It was discovered by the producer Timbaland , who made it known to a worldwide audience with his song Morning After Dark .

Life

SoShy was born in France . Her mother is of Franco-Italian-Argentine roots and her father is of Franco-Russian descent. She grew up in both Los Angeles and New York City . Although she never took singing or music lessons , she started singing and writing her own songs at the age of eight.

In 2007 SoShy composed the song “Appetite For Love” for the Belgian singer Natalia , in 2008 the top ten hit “Strike The Match” for the German band Monrose and in 2009 the song “Elvis” by Leki & The Sweet Mints .

SoShy was signed to the Mosley Music Group label in 2009 . Timbaland , the founder of the label, then recorded the single Morning After Dark with her and Nelly Furtado , which is the first release from Timbaland's album " Shock Value II ".

In the past few years it has become quiet again. In 2014, however, it was still said that she was still working on her first own album .
