Bubba Sparxxx (born March 6, 1977 in LaGrange , Georgia ; actually Warren Anderson Mathis ), also known as Bubba Mathis , is an American rapper . He was best known for his hit single Ugly from 2001 and, along with Eminem and Everlast, was one of the very few successful white hip-hop musicians in the USA at the time . Sparxxx is a representative of the Down South .

biography

Sparxxx grew up in a rural area of the southern states , bringing a new world of experience to mainstream US hip-hop. He remembers his stepfather as a defining experience of his youth: [He] showed me how to set the scope, shoot and then leave with the deer / And then he made me drink the blood to show me life was precious.

Bubba Sparxxx started with his friend Lil Devil in 1996 with their band One Card Shi , which had some success regionally in Georgia with a demo tape and the album Dark Days, Bright Nights and especially caught the attention of Jimmy Iovine from Interscope Records .

Bubba got a record deal with Interscope and subsequently worked with producers Timbaland and Organized Noize. The joint remake of Dark Days, Bright Nights appeared in 2000 and rose to third place on the Billboard charts . The co-production was viewed with skepticism before it was released: Timbaland is known for its urban, elegant and complex style, Sparxxx itself celebrates a redneck aesthetic. But it also convinced the critics.

The third album, Deliverance , was released in 2003, but was not a huge success, although it entered the top 10. It is named after the film (and book) of the same name by James Dickey , in which four young men from Georgia drive into the wilderness and fight for their lives with two inhabitants of the mountains.

In the meantime, Bubba Sparxxx has switched to E1 Music . His 2006 album The Charm reached number 9 on the charts and stayed in the Top 200 for 15 weeks. Ms. New Booty (with the Ying Yang Twins ), Heat It Up and The Otherside (with Petey Pablo and Sleepy Brown) were named Single decoupled.

In 2009 released together with DJ Greg Street the album The New South with the two songs Beatin Down the Block and She Got Me Like (Ahh Shit) .

In October 2012, the single Country Folks was released , in which Danny Alexander from the band Rehab and the country rapper Colt Ford participated. Shortly thereafter, the second single from a new album, Splinter , was released. The album Pain Management was released in October 2013 .

A new single with Danny Alexander was released in 2014, Made On McCosh Hill Rd , which was decoupled from the album of the same name, released on June 24, 2014.
