Jonathan Brandis
Jonathan Gregory Brandis (born April 13, 1976 in Danbury , Connecticut , † November 12, 2003 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American actor .
life and career
Jonathan Brandis began his career as a child actor in commercials. His best-known portrayals were that of Bastian Bux in the film The Neverending Story II - In Search of Fantasies, that of Barry Gabrewski in Sidekicks and that of King Wenceslas in the film The Good King . This was followed by roles mainly in television series . He became known here for his impersonation of the young scientific genius Lucas Wolenczak in Steven Spielberg's futuristic science fiction series SeaQuest DSV at the side of Roy Scheider . For his portrayal he was awarded the Young Artist Award in 1994.
From 1995 to 1998 he was in a relationship with actress Tatyana Ali . At the end of the 1990s it became quiet around him. He received only minor roles such as next to Bruce Willis in The Tribunal and next to Harvey Keitel in Puerto Vallarta Squeeze . After his career slumped, he fell ill with depression .
On the evening of November 11, 2003, Brandis was found lifeless in his Los Angeles apartment where he had hanged himself. Brandis was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center , where his death was determined. He did not leave a suicide note.
