Monty - Immer hart am Ball (Original title: Ladybugs ) is an American comedy film directed by Sidney J. Furie from 1992 .
action
At his company, Chester Lee seeks a promotion. In order to distinguish himself, he claims to have been an excellent football player in his youth. Now he is supposed to train a girls' team called Ladybugs with his assistant Julie as assistant trainer. Chester finds out that the Ladybugs are sponsored by his company and have dominated the championship for some time. For a promotion, he should lead the team to the championship. To Chester's chagrin, only one player from the championship has remained with the team. The new team around Kimberly, the daughter of company boss Glynnis Mullen, has made a false start.
Chester is privately in a relationship with Bess, who has a son from her first marriage, Matthew. Matthew is a good athlete but a bad student, which got him off the school team. Chester tries to get training tips for the Ladybugs from Matthew. Matthew is in love with Kimberly and is persuaded by Chester to play on the team as Martha, dressed in girls' clothes. Only Chester, Julie and Matthew know the secret. The team wins all remaining games and qualifies for the championship finals. In the meantime, Kimberley has made friends with Martha without knowing that Martha is actually Matthew.
Shortly before the finale, Bess finds out the secret about Martha. She argues with Chester and demands that Matthew be removed from the team. Kimberly, who plays badly, is also removed from the team at her mother's request. The Ladybugs are 3-0 down at halftime. In the dressing room, Matthew admits to Kimberly and the crew that he played Martha. His honesty impressed the team, who managed to fight their opponents down and equalize. Chester gives Kimberly another chance, converting a penalty to win the Ladybugs, who win the championship. After the final, Bess and Chester marry, who was also promoted. Matthew and Kimberly are dating for the first time.
Reviews
The Lexicon of International Films describes the work as a "naive comedy that propagates self-confidence and the will to succeed, but gets stuck in teenage gossip".
Hal Hinson of the Washington Post writes that inconsistencies are fundamental to comedy. And Ladybugs have nothing but disagreements. The whole story is predictable from the start.
Jack Sommersby from eFilmCritics has had some depressive experiences. because the film tries to be as impeccably secure as possible. Rental director Furie gave the listless material the expressiveness of an industrial training video.
