One of Grandpa Munster's experiments went terribly wrong: he just wanted to try out his new sleeping coffins, in which you can set the length of time you want to sleep, on himself and the whole family. However, he mistook the switch on the timer and so the Munsters do not wake up after 20 minutes, but after 20 years.

Theme song
For the Munster family , the characteristic title melody was combined with a text for the first time: “We're the Munsters, we're the Munsters. We went to sleep twenty years ago, and we woke up with a brand new show. We're the Munsters. We're the Munsters… today. "
Others
- The idea of reviving the Munsters for television was born in the early 1980s. For this purpose, the television film The Return of the Frankenstein Family ( The Munsters' Revenge ) was shot in 1981 with almost the entire cast of the original series. The film was a failure and the series that was to follow it never came about because, among other things, a. Leading actor Fred Gwynne was no longer willing to play the role of Herman Munster again.
- Al Lewis was unhappy at the time that he was passed over to cast the series. The studio saw Howard Morton as a cheaper replacement.
