Ulrike Beimpold (born May 10, 1964 in Vienna , Austria ) is an Austrian actress , director , voice actress and author . She is a member of the Vienna Burgtheater ensemble and, at the age of eight, played her first theater role in Ferdinand Raimund's magical tale, The Diamond of the Ghost King .

Life

Ulrike Beimpold graduated from the Krauss drama school in Vienna and trained as a singer with Lilly Kolar. She also completed a vocal degree with Christian Koch.

Theater (acting & directing)

She made her debut at the Vienna Akademietheater on February 24, 1980 at the age of 15 in Johann Nestroy's Das Mädl aus der Vorstadt and has since been a member of the Vienna Burgtheater ensemble . Her range now includes pieces by Hugo von Hofmannsthal , Franz Grillparzer , Arthur Schnitzler , Ödön von Horváth , Heinrich von Kleist , William Shakespeare , Frank Wedekind and Peter Handke . Since 1998 Ulrike Beimpold has appeared as a permanent guest in productions at the Vienna Volksoper. It has also been an integral part of productions as part of the “ Reichenau Festival ” for many years . In the 2009 season she took part in the play Children of the Sun by Maxim Gorky .

She made her debut as a director with the production of Franz Lehár's operettaThe Merry Widow ” at the Lehár Festival Bad Ischl in summer 2006. In 2017 she staged the operetta " Orpheus in der Unterwelt " by Jacques Offenbach at the Baden stage in Baden near Vienna .

Recitation (readings)

Ulrike Beimpold read again and again in recitation evenings of Austrian literature of the past century. From 2003 to 2004 Ulrike Beimpold devoted herself to her solo program Katharina Schratt - Ein Leben , a staged reading about the extraordinary life of the castle actress, a late “friend” and confidante of the Austrian Emperor Franz Joseph I. With this program she performed in Austria and Germany. The book for this homage was written by Susanne Wolf .

In 2005 she devoted herself to the anecdotes of the Viennese joy girl Josefine Mutzenbacher with a reading under the title Frivolous Fridays in Vienna's “ Cabaret Nettle ” .

In the spring of 2009, Beimpold performed as part of the “Music and Poetry Cycle” at the Wiener Konzerthaus . In a reading by Denis Diderot 's Rameau's nephew , Florian Birsak played compositions by Jean-Philippe Rameau on the harpsichord . She dedicated the second reading to Voltaire's Candide with Stefan Stroissnig at the piano and works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart .

Exactly 25 years after her Nestroy premiere, on February 24, 2005, she gave her first concert with recitation and singing in the song cycle of the “Philharmonia Schrammeln Wien” in the Wiener Musikverein with the program “Die Schrammeln, ein Frau und Gesang”. Since then she has performed continuously with the “Philharmonia Schrammeln Wien”.

In June 2007 the Philharmonia Schrammeln performed with Ulrike Beimpold in a benefit concert in favor of the “Austrian Bone Marrow Donation Center” in the Schönbrunn Palace Theater .

Together with the Austrian chamber singer Heinz Zednik and the Philharmonia Schrammeln, the artist performed the program Die Henne im Korb in the Wiener Musikverein in 2009 .

TV, film & radio

She was a candidate for the 2nd season of the ORF dance event Dancing Stars . At also from ORF produced comedy show What's new? she participates continuously. As a dubbing actress, Ulrike Beimpold has her voice for the Austrian dubbing of the piggy babe in the 1995 film of the same name and in the sequel Piggy Babe in the Big City from 1999. Beimpold also appears in radio spots and radio plays.

Publications

Her first book, A Pear Called Beimpold: Anecdotes of a Castle Plant , was published in September 2008. In it, Beimpold recorded amusing anecdotes from everyday acting in the Vienna Burgtheater.

In 2006 she published an audio book for reading on CD under the title Ulrike Beimpold - Josefine Mutzenbacher and her 365 lovers .
