Reinhard Schwabenitzky , born as Reinhard Klingenberg (born April 23, 1947 in Rauris , Salzburg ) is an Austrian director , producer and screenwriter .

Life

At the age of four, Reinhard Schwabenitzky played his first roles in several plays at the St. Pölten City Theater under the direction of his father Gerhard Klingenberg . After graduating from high school in 1968, he studied camera and film directing at the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts . After his diploma film Die Lebensaufgabe was shown on ORF , he received his first offers as a director, for example for a satire called Sister Martha renouncing her happiness and a real Viennese does not go under .

With the television series A real Viennese does not go under , which was produced between 1975 and 1977 and is still popular today, he created a street sweeper in the mid-1970s - as it was called back then . Numerous films and series were staged . Among other things, he achieved his breakthrough in Germany with the series Parole Chicago (1979), Tour de Ruhr (1980) and Büro, Büro (1982–1984) . Schwabenitzky had meanwhile moved from Vienna to Munich and shot, among other things, the last two episodes of the television series Tatort with Helmut Fischer ( Die Macht des Schicksals und Antenspiele ), films with Dieter Hallervorden , the multi-part Die Fifth Saison , an episode of the series The normal madness and several other series and films. After more than 15 years in Germany, he moved back to Austria and made the multi-part In times like these , several films and the two series Kaisermühlen Blues (1992–1993) and Oben ohne (2005–2011), which have now also achieved cult status .

Reinhard Schwabenitzky lives with his second wife Elfi Eschke and their son Lucas near Salzburg . In 1993 he founded his film company "Star * Film", with which he produced most of his cinema and television films - together with his son Markus from his first marriage. His daughter Martina Schwab is an actress.

Elfi Eschke played the leading role in many of his films, such as Büro, Büro , Tour de Ruhr , Ilona & Kurti (1992), Please Leave Your Man (1993), Hannah (1997), the Almost Perfect Trilogy ( 1995–1999), the four-part Conny series (2003–2005), Nice That There You Are (2005) and Topless (2006–2008).

In addition to his almost continuous success with the audience, Schwabenitzky was also awarded important prizes such as the Golden Camera , the Ernst Lubitsch Prize , Best foreign feature film in Santa Barbara (California) and others (see Awards).

Schwabenitzky continues to devote himself to filmmaking, scriptwriting, production and theater work ( Renaissance Theater (Berlin) , Salzburg State Theater , various festivals, theater in the Josefstadt Vienna etc.). In 2003 he also took over the hotel-restaurant "Itzlinger Hof" in Salzburg from his mother and sold it in April 2016. Since 2015, together with Star-Film, he has developed the streaming site www.nurdein.tv for streaming primarily German-language films. His first novel Silent Night and the Secret of the Magic Flute was published in September 2018 .
