Vitus Zeplichal

Vitus Zeplichal (born June 10, 1947 in Salzburg ) is an Austrian actor .

Life

He had his first theater appearance on the studio stage in his hometown of Salzburg. Zeplichal then received acting lessons at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna (1969–1972), at the Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute in Los Angeles and with Jerzy Grotowski in Breslau .

He began his theater career in 1973 at the Modern Theater in Munich and at the Theater der Jugend there . In 1974/75 he played at the Theater am Turm in Frankfurt am Main under Rainer Werner Fassbinder . Here he was seen in the world premiere of Yaak Karsunkes Germinal as well as in Leonce and Lena . He then played at the youth scene in Salzburg and in 1978/1979 at the dance theater of Pina Bausch in Wuppertal and in 1979 at the Torturmtheater Sommerhausen under Veit Relin . In 1983 he went to the stages of the city of Bonn and in 1983/84 to the Münchner Kammerspiele .

From 1970 onwards Zeplichal took part in a number of feature films and numerous television productions. In 1972 he played the leading role of a high school graduate in Peter Fleischmann's controversial film Das Unheil . Zeplichal then worked with other New German Film directors , most prominently with Rainer Werner Fassbinder in seven films between 1975 and 1982. While he appeared as a supporting actor in the other Fassbinder films, he played in I just want you to me loves the main role of a young man who also becomes a manslayer through external circumstances. In the Heinrich Böll adaptation Group picture with lady , he was seen as the brother of Romy Schneider's main character in 1977 .
