Andreas Prochaska
Andreas Prochaska (born December 31, 1964 in Vienna ) is an Austrian film director and screenwriter .
Live and act
Andreas Prochaska was born in Vienna and grew up in Bad Ischl , where he graduated in 1983 . He studied journalism and theater studies in Vienna , but broke off. He started in 1985 as an assistant at Paulus Manker and gained practical experience as a sound designer , production, editing and assistant director in both cinema and television productions. In 1988 he joined Wolfram Paulus ' postseason as assistant editor and in the following years was first assistant editor for Michael Haneke's films ( Benny's Video , 1992) and then film editor, for example for Funny Games , 1997 and Code Inconnu , 2000.
In 1998 Prochaska filmed the Christine Nöstlinger children's novel The 3 Post Robbers and was successful in Austrian cinemas. Several television films and individual episodes of television series followed, until after a conversation with Allegro Film producer Helmut Grasser , who like Prochaska has a preference for horror films, he decided to direct an Austrian horror film based on the American model. After the resulting film In 3 Days You're Dead , which differed from other Austrian films in that all the actors speak Austrian dialects, was very successful, a sequel was released two years later.
On October 1, 2010, Prochaska's first comedy, The Unintentional Abduction of Frau Elfriede Ott , was released, which won the Austrian Film Prize for the first time in 2011 and brought him the screenplay prize. In 2012 he won the Bavarian TV Prize and the Emmy Award for directing the television film Das Wunder von Kärnten .
In 2013 he won the Bavarian Film Prize in the “Best Director” category for Das sinstere Tal , Sam Riley gave the laudatory speech. When German Film Award in 2014 , the film was also awarded eight prices; Prochaska himself was nominated for Best Director , but was defeated by Edgar Reitz .
Prochaska lives with his wife Astrid, an art therapist, and their four sons in Purkersdorf near Vienna . Son Daniel Prochaska is a film editor and film director.
