Hundskinder is a German television film by Andreas Prochaska from 2013. It is the 33rd film in the ZDF crime series Bella Block . For her former colleague Jan Martensen ( Devid Striesow ) it is the 15th and last case.

action

Former soldier Joseph Mackeder is found shot dead in the woods. Mackeder leaves four children on a poor farm. Commissioner Jan Martensen asks Bella Block to help her with the case involving children. When she wants to question the children in the course of her investigation, she is taken hostage by them. The children want to stay united and want their mother back, who left the family several years ago. To demonstrate how serious they are, Lukas, the oldest, shoots the inspector. The demand turns into blackmail and Lukas threatens to shoot Bella Block if the demand is not met. Your attempts to convince the children that their endeavor is futile is unsuccessful. Time is of the essence because traces of blood that had been infected with rabies germs were found on her father's hands. The children urgently need to be vaccinated as a precaution and the dogs should also be killed, according to the veterinary authority's orders. Bella Block has to see how the children develop their house into a fortress almost with a military staff and do not let anyone near them. Over time, Bella Block succeeds in winning the children's trust, especially that of "leader" Lukas.

While the SEK secures the entire course, Jan Martensen tries to reach the mother of the children. His young colleague, Leonie Ahmendt, is meanwhile thinking about the motive for the murder. She considers the dead man's brother-in-law to be suspect. He has debts and if he were to be used as the guardian of the children, whose closest relative is Lars Beyer, he could dispose of the property, which will become building land in the next few months. She also finds out that a rabies-infected cat recently disappeared from a laboratory.

To deceive the children, the SEK wants to use a double that they should mistake for their mother. The plan almost succeeded, but the whole thing escalates. Lukas is seriously, but not fatally injured during the exchange of fire. His uncle, who witnessed the whole situation, admits that he stole the cat from the laboratory so that his brother-in-law's dogs could become infected and the farm would be closed. When he noticed that his plan wasn't working, he shot Joseph Mackeder because he had spotted him and was already aiming the rifle at him.

criticism

Rainer Tittelbach from tittelbach.tv said: “The framework of 'Hundskinder' is a crime thriller, in the center of this 'Bella Block' episode is a thoroughbred drama. The situation, the role of the children as perpetrators, who are even more victims, the physique of the moment, the kids inside, the police outside and Bella Block as mediator, all this dominates the final tension. The threat potential of this hostage-taking is low, the affect content is all the higher. "

In quotenmeter.de Marcel Rossmann evaluated: "What begins as an ordinary crime with a body in the woods turns out to be but as one might initially suspect as something more comprehensive and more explosive. As a spectator, the focus is quickly on the children, accompanied by the question of what actually makes them so suspicious of the police. "" However, the finale and the resolution of the mystery that surrounds the entire family are a bit poor. " Conclusion: "All in all, the new 'Bella Block' case is well worth seeing, but if you have better plans on Saturday evening, you don't have to worry about having missed the case."

The critics of the TV magazine TV Spielfilm gave the best rating (thumbs up) and said: "Strong crime drama without social and victim clichés." Conclusion: "Unusual case, really well implemented"
