The most beautiful night of life

Forever and Always is a German television film by Christian von Castelberg from 2014. It is the 35th film in the ZDF crime series Bella Block .

action

Bella Block, who made the acquaintance of the German Sandra Lehnhoff at a birthday party in Lisbon , was shocked to discover that she was found dead a little later that night under the Elevador de Santa Justa . The host, Mehlhorn's friend Bernhard Greve, is found unconscious and with amnesia the next morning. On the basis of a testimony, Greve is accused of pushing the girl into the depths. Dr. Klaus Dieter Mehlhorn, who is also in Lisbon, asks Block to conduct his own investigation, since it is probably a murder and not a suicide and his friend is the main suspect.

Bella Block tries to get an idea of Sandra Lehnhoff and finds out that the girl has always been interested in older men like Greve. But the reason was not the search for a relationship, but for the man who was to blame for the death of her friend. A few months ago she had killed herself out of lovesickness. In this context, Bella Block becomes aware of Pastor Max von Holt. He is also an old student friend of Greve and Mehlhorn. He knew Sandra Lehnhoff's girlfriend well and had tried in vain to help her. He also had to watch as Sandra Lehnhoff plunged into the depths in front of Greve's eyes and previously rammed a knife into her stomach. Max von Holt saw how Greve had destroyed the life and love of two people, and therefore he wanted to destroy his and made it look as if Greve had killed Sandra Lehnhoff.

criticism

Rainer Tittelbach from tittelbach.tv judged: “A good idea. 'Forever and Always' largely elegantly bypasses the dramaturgical stereotypes that had recently crept in. Christian von Castelberg's film is an elegant crime drama, noble in setting and image design, masterful in terms of the flow of the narrative. And the story is about 'the power of great values', about unfulfilled love, about friendships that are no longer what they were, about painful memories ... "

At quotenmeter.de sindey Schering evaluated: “Coupled with the wonderful camera work and a strong, thoughtful musical background, 'Bella Block - Forever and Always' is a technically impressive part of the series, but the content does not consistently maintain its level. Many dialogues are made up of characters describing their counterparts and thus relieving the viewer of the work of assessing the personalities of the cast themselves. The sometimes very intrusive character descriptions disrupt the overall natural impression of the dialogues and also stand out very negatively in a crime thriller that otherwise sees its audience as smart. "Conclusion:" Nicely filmed, well played and sympathetic-melancholy - despite some unnecessary excursions to conventional realms ”well worth seeing.

Ulrich Feld from the FNP criticized: “Bella Block solves the case, but it is impossible for the audience to understand her method. In the end she conjures up the solution like a rabbit out of a hat. "

The critics of the TV magazine TV Spielfilm gave the best rating (thumbs up) and said: "A visit from friends who is drifting in the direction of Fado."
