Martin Farkas

Martin Farkas (born October 14, 1964 in Tübingen ) is a German cameraman and film director .

Life

Martin Farkas grew up in Kempten (Allgäu) . At the age of 17 he was already working on several documentaries , so that after graduating from high school he traveled through South America , Africa , Asia and all of Europe . He later studied social pedagogy with a focus on sociology , psychology and philosophy . He worked as a gaffer with the cameramen Paolo Carnera , Benedict Neuenfels and Michael Ballhaus, among others . As a cameraman he makes documentaries and feature films. In 2002 Farkas was nominated for a German Camera Prize for the documentary A Woman and a Half: Hildegard Knef . For the Spreewald thriller: The Dead in the Spreewald , it was nominated again for a German Camera Prize in 2010. As co-director for the essay film Let there be a city! Together with Dominik Graf, he was awarded the prize for the best documentary by the German Academy for Television in 2014. From 2014 to 2017 he worked as a writer and director on the documentary Über Leben in Demmin , which was shown in German cinemas in 2018.
