German Souls - Life After Colonia Dignidad is a German documentary film by Martin Farkas and Matthias Zuber from 2009 about former sect members of Colonia Dignidad .

The interviews and filming took place in Chile and were carried out from November 2006 to January 2007.
The film premiered on January 29, 2009 at the Max Ophüls Film Festival and was shown in German cinemas from July 1, 2010.

"The film [...] [...] uses subtle images and some extremely effective dramaturgical tricks to bring to light not only the functioning of the sect, but almost all totalitarian systems. The result of their investigations, research and interviews is a haunting documentary that touches and shakes and from which one can learn a lot about the human beast - sometimes more than one would like. [...] "
The film was awarded the title “particularly valuable” by the German Film and Media Assessment (FBW) . The jury's verdict was: “Matthias Zuber and Martin Farkas have made a haunting, dismaying documentary film. Incidentally, precisely because he cleverly refrains from sketching the entire complexity of the history of this unfortunate colony again. "
