occupation

Morgen das Leben is a German film drama by director Alexander Riedel from 2010. The episode film , which is divided into three different storylines , is set in Munich and focuses on the life of single people in difficult social situations who are around 40 years old. The protagonists are staged using documentary elements, which gives the film a realistic appearance.

action

The three individual episodes are dramatically intertwined, but show only minor overlaps:

  • The former stewardess and single mother Judith works at home as a telephone operator and applies labels to plastic components. The purpose of her life is her son Oskar. She flirts with phone customers. Towards the end of the film she looks for Jochen dressed as a stewardess.
  • Jochen works at a wholesale market and lives in a cheap pension under precarious circumstances. When an additional tenant is to be quartered in his single room, Jochen starts looking for a new job with better pay. As an insurance agent, he doesn't just have to change his outward appearance.
  • After 18 years as a clerk at an authority, Ulrike quit her job. Your boyfriend just left her. She tries a fresh start and begins training as a masseuse.

The three protagonists are shown in social isolation. She connects loneliness, but also the will to change her life situation. At the end of the film, Ulrike walks through the city disguised as bees with two work colleagues and takes a bath in the Isar.

criticism

According to the Süddeutscher Zeitung , the film depicts "an enchanted world in which people struggle to get a feeling of being there".

The television station ZDF comments, "Alexander Riedel stages his three main actors in the middle of real life - this is how the film becomes a border crosser on the threshold of fiction and reality".

The Internet portal FILMSTARTS comes to the conclusion: "Glimmers of hope break open the dreary mood of the film again and again and make the rearing of the three main characters almost read as a call to imitate".
