Gabi Geist

Gabi Geist (* 1953 in Röttingen , Lower Franconia ) is a German actress .

Life

Gabi Geist grew up in Franconia near Würzburg . She became a mother of two and devoted herself to her family first before turning to acting.

From 1980 she worked as an actress. At first she worked mainly in cinema and TV productions, working closely with Herbert Achternbusch , in which she appeared in a total of 16 films. Gabi Geist has also been active as a stage actress since 1982 . From 1986 she was engaged at the Münchner Kammerspiele , where she worked with directors such as Dieter Dorn , Hans Lietzau , Anselm Weber and Jens Daniel Herzog . In 1996 she played there together with Bruno Ganz in the world premiere of Botho Strauss ' Ithaka , with which she also made a guest appearance at the Mülheimer Theatertage in 1997 .

Geist also appeared at the TamS-Theater (1994), the Free Theater Bozen (1996) and the Munich Academy Theater (1998). From 2000 she worked in several productions at the "Theater Fisch & Plastik" under the direction of Eos Schopohl .

In 2002 she moved to the Residenztheater in Munich together with Dieter Dorn , where she subsequently a. a. starred in productions by Franz Xaver Kroetz , Dieter Dorn, Thomas Langhoff , Elmar Goerden , Tina Lanik and Enrico Lübbe . In 2007 she played Marie’s monologue in a stage version of Bodo Kirchhoff’s My Last Film in a production by Theater Fisch & Plastik . In 2010 she played the role of the old Golische in Rose Bernd at the Residenztheater Munich . In 2011 she appeared there in Dieter Dorn's Kleist production Das Käthchen von Heilbronn .

In 2011 she appeared at the Tiroler Volksschauspiele in Telfs under the direction of Guntram Brattia . In the 2014/15 season she was a permanent member of the ensemble at Theater Konstanz . In the season 2015/16 she sang there as Erna in The presidents of Werner Schwab . In the 2018/19 season she appeared at the Stadttheater Fürth as Frau Hollunder in Liliom . In 2019 she played the role of "Lady Gänseblümchen" at the Munich TamS Theater in the world premiere of the play The Last Dirt - A Royal Drama by Beate Faßnacht .

Geist has worked in over 40 film and television productions. After appearing in the cinema in the 1980s, Geist has also worked regularly for television since the 1990s. a. directed by Gabriela Zerhau , Matti Geschonneck , Markus Bräutigam , Michael Keusch , Max Färberböck and Johannes Fabrick . Gabi Geist was often in prominent supporting roles as a saleswoman, neighbor, mother, aunt or similar. used where u. a. Ulrike Kriener , Marianne Sägebrecht , Kristian Kiehling , Tilo Prückner , Marcus Mittermeier and Fred Stillkrauth were her partners.
