Marcus Mittermeier
Marcus Mittermeier (born October 8, 1969 in Landshut ) is a German actor and director .
Life
Marcus Mittermeier completed his acting training at the Drama School Zerboni in Gauting. He also took lessons from Regine Lutz , Peter Shub , Wolfram Völzke and Peter Schroth . He began as an actor in 1995 at the Munich Volkstheater , where he made his debut in Edward Bond's play Gerettet . He was then engaged as an actor and assistant director at the Ingolstadt Theater. He made his directorial debut in 1998 with Georg Büchner's Leonce and Lena . In addition to his engagements, he studied philosophy and theater studies. He then made a name for himself through appearances in various television productions, including the series Velvet and Silk and The Public Prosecutor .
With the film Muxmäuschenstill he made his cinema directorial debut, for which he received the Max Ophüls Prize and a nomination for the German Film Prize in 2004 .
Mittermeier's second movie Short Cut to Hollywood premiered on February 8, 2009 at the Berlinale . For a guerrilla marketing campaign for the film, he and co-director Jan Henrik Stahlberg had false reports spread that there had been a bomb attack in the fictional Californian town of Bluewater. This became known as the Bluewater Affair .
His portrayal in Johannes Fabrick's Der kalte Himmel brought Mittermeier a nomination for the German Actor Award 2012 for “The Best Supporting Role”. On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall in 2014, he played in the GDR drama Between the Times . He has also been known to a wide audience since 2014 for his role in the Munich Murder series.
