Till Death Do You Part is a German TV film by Judith Kennel from 2007. It is the second episode of the crime series Under Other Circumstances with Natalia Wörner in the lead role.

action

Commissioner Jana Winter uses the time after the birth of her son to stay at home for a while. But she found her way back to work unexpectedly quickly when her au pair Frida discovered a body while walking with little Leo. The man came from Schleswig and fell from a motorway bridge. The autopsy reveals that Dirk Ehlers died of heart failure and was dead four hours before someone threw him off the bridge. After it turns out that his girlfriend, Silke Momsen, is actually already married, the case becomes even more interesting for the police. Everything points to a fictitious marriage between Silke Momsen and the Chechen Izar Basajew. Jana Winter finds out by chance that Basayev works in a gas station and uses a stun gun to defend himself. Since traces of the use of such a device have been found on the dead person and this may lead to cardiac arrest, the search is on for Basayev. When he was arrested after a long search, he denied having killed Dirk Ehlers. Jana Winter also has doubts that they already have the perpetrator in Basayev, because there are indications of an organized market for marriages of convenience. This lead leads to Ingo Ost, who works in the asylum seekers' home and thus has direct contact with the asylum seekers. His sister, the lawyer Kirsten Lorenzen, is also involved in her brother's business. With a trick, the inspector tries to put an end to the two of them, but her life is in danger. Her colleagues, who were supposed to monitor the action, have to stand by and watch as Jana is even kidnapped. Fortunately, she can switch on her cell phone, which makes it easier for her colleagues to locate the location and ultimately both Kirsten Lorenzen and Ingo Ost can be arrested.

Izar Basajew had fallen in love with his bogus wife and therefore had a clash with Dirk Ehlers, who did not want to give up his girlfriend without a fight. When he couldn't get Basayev to stay away from Silke, he hoped for support from Ingo Ost and his sister, who then cleared the annoying confidante out of the way.

Reviews

Rainer Tittelbach from Tittelbach.tv wrote: “Even if the well-photographed and perfectly staged film by Judith Kennel brings the north German landscape into play very effectively, Nathalia Wörner as investigator Jana Winter with appendix (Matthias Brandt) and offspring cuts a good figure and also the ingredients of the story are finely spun together to make an exciting television film that undoubtedly enriches the crime genre in this country, so the question must be allowed whether such an enrichment is really necessary. Wouldn't it be time to let this great class, which German authors, directors, cameramen and actors have today, merge into a greater thematic and formal variety ?! "

The critics of the TV magazine TV Spielfilm rated: "The somewhat thinly knitted crime thriller about weak men and strong women lives from its sympathetic ensemble."

In Stimme.de Johann Ritter ruled: "The case, which is available to clarify in the loop in the peaceful Schleswig has quite the right social relevance: It's about marriages of convenience, deportation and people who take advantage of the emergency situations other shamelessly. As always in the series supervised by the director Judith Kennel, it is exciting and, above all, very atmospheric, told with North German coolness. "

Tilmann P. Gangloff wrote for Kino.de : “It clearly paid off that the same team could be gathered in front of and behind the camera: The screenplay is again by Waltraud Ehrhardt and Peter Obrist, again directed by Judith Kennel. The ensemble, which is worth seeing, has also remained the same. […] Of course Natalia Wörner is the star of the film, but it owes its class to the excellent ensemble performance. "
