Under Other Circumstances is the title of a German television crime series with 15 episodes so far that have been produced and broadcast since 2006.

background

A team of investigators, whose main character is the detective superintendent Jana Winter, operates in the Schleswig-Holstein province. The main case is always closely linked to the Commissioner's private life. Contrary to the subjects often preferred in so-called big city crime novels , Unter Other Circumstances is based on the example of some Scandinavian crime novels such as the film adaptations by Henning Mankell .

The title of the first episode took into account the pregnancy of the leading actress Natalia Wörner during the filming. As a result of the success, a series has emerged from this. Her born son Jakob occasionally plays in the crime series as Jana Winters.
