Judith Kennel

Judith Kennel (* 1958 in Root LU ) is a Swiss director and screenwriter .

Kennel attended high school and boarding school.

From 1984 to 1989 she worked as an assistant director and dramaturgist at the Stadttheater Bern . She then assisted Markus Imhoof , Thomas Koerfer , Hans W. Geißendörfer , Christof Vorster and Marcel Gisler, among others . She completed a screenwriting seminar with Krzysztof Kieślowski , then began to realize her own projects and founded Colibri Film GmbH in Zurich in 1999 . Since 2001 she has also held acting seminars, including at the Bern University of the Arts .

Kennel lives in Zurich.

Awards

Kennel received a Federal Study Award for her directorial debut Zornige Küsse and the Young European Jury Award at the Mons International Festival of Love Films 2001. The crime series Last Trace Berlin , for which she shot the first two episodes, was nominated for the Grimme Prize in 2013.
