Gagering is a group and a fraction ( village ) of the municipality of Fügen in the Zillertal  in Tyrol with 179 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020).

geography

Gagering is located in the lower Zillertal, around 2 km north of the municipality of Fügen, on the alluvial cone of the Gageringerbach. The village is located on the Zillertalstrasse  and has its own Zillertalbahn stop .

history

The place was first mentioned in the middle of the 14th century as daz (da zu) Gägeringen in the Rottenburger Urbar. The houses originally belonged to the municipality of Schlitters and the fields to Fügen, which until 1816 were even subordinate to another sovereign ( Prince Archbishopric of Salzburg ). Gagering has belonged to Fügen as a whole since 1857.
