action

Lawyer Alex Holtkamp is contacted by Enno Fellner, who has problems with the owners of the country inn "Gut Markshof". Fellner was convicted of raping Kamilla Marks, the co-owner of the inn, and was recently released from prison after five years. According to him, he was innocent and the process was flawed. Ms. Marks obtained a residence ban against him, which he can hardly keep because as a bus driver he often has to drop off his passengers at the inn.

After a stranger shoots Kamilla Marks, Fellner comes under suspicion and is arrested by Overbeck. Since his mother gives him an alibi, he is released again. Wilsberg, who is asked for help by Alex, believes Fellner and wants to find out the truth about the alleged rape, as he sees it as the cause of the new problems. He was able to convince Ekki to take part in one of Fellner's bus trips in order to win his trust, and he was employed as a cook in the Marks' inn . In doing so, he realizes that the inn is nowhere near as good as the Marks claim. So he not only has to help in the kitchen, but also do countless caretaker jobs and also step in as a waiter. He finds out that Sofie Degenhardt, the Marks' assistant, plays an important role.

Wilsberg can contact Ekki's psychotherapist Dr. Isolde Flint obtained an opinion that was not recognized at Fellner's trial, but which clearly shows that Kamilla Marks is a compulsive liar. He speaks to her specifically about it and makes it clear to her that she has to clear the table and talk to Fellner.

The next day, the body of Kamilla Marks is unexpectedly found in the moor. Fellner is arrested again and the gun that was used to shoot the victim is found in his house. Wilsberg investigates a little deeper and finds that the rifle was hidden by the Mark's cook in Fellner's apartment. He speaks to Paco, who admits the shots to his boss. For a long time he is the henchman of Gert Marks, who hopes to bring life insurance to his wife the inn again. Since Wilsberg has now learned too much, Paco knocks him down and locks him in the refrigerator. There he is discovered by Sofie Degenhardt and freed again.

Fellner now manages to escape from custody with Alex as a hostage. He wants to be rehabilitated at all costs and won't stop at anything. Armed he penetrates the manor and takes all those present hostage, including Wilsberg. He can talk to Fellner and make him think, but only Ekki, who spontaneously decides to run into the inn, can persuade Fellner to give up.

In addition to Fellner, the cook Paco, Gerd Marks and his lover Sofie Degenhardt, with whom he wanted to get the high life insurance, are arrested.

criticism

Tilmann P. Gangloff from tittelbach.tv comes to the conclusion that the “Wilsberg” episode “No way back” is “a cleverly designed crime thriller in which an alleged rapist fights for his rehabilitation. The roles are excellent and well cast, Martin Enlen's implementation is routine in the best sense of the word, the dialogues are polished. The film has only one catch: Experienced crime fans would see through early on what should only turn out to be the highlight of the story at the end. [...] Apart from that, however, 'No Way Back' is a thriller that is well worth seeing, not least thanks to the sophisticated dialogues. The staging is inconspicuous except for a few unusual shots [...], but [is] rounded off [...] by the casual way in which the questionable nature of male behavior towards women is thematized in many scenes. "

The critics of the TV magazine TV Spielfilm judge cautiously: "The plot, knitted around the series characters as usual and peppered with a few cute scenes, is very striking and foreseeable." Conclusion: "Münster as a crime scene is clearly better in the first place."

Dennis Weber atquotemeter.de evaluates: “With 'No way back', Martin Enlen manages to stage a great Saturday night thriller and, above all, to rely on the foundation of the series. «Wilsberg» is, was and will remain a crime series that nevertheless manages to set positive accents with the contrary element of comedy. Overall, “No way back” provides 90 minutes of exciting and varied entertainment. It is not so much the criminal case that seems particularly convincing or ingeniously raised, but rather the good and consistently convincing acting of the actors and a good pinch of situation comedy.
