Calm After the Storm ( The calm after the storm is) a Country - Song of the Dutch duo The Common Linnets . It was presented on March 12th on De Wereld Draait Door as a Dutch contribution to the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Copenhagen . The music video was produced in Edam in March 2014 .

After the song reached the first semi-final at the Eurovision Song Contest on May 6th, the Netherlands finished second behind Austria with the song in the final on May 10th . This was the highest ranking for the Netherlands since their victory in 1975.

In 2018 the song was covered by the Icelandic Magni Ásgeirsson and Ágústa Eva Erlendsdóttir , with the text replaced by one written by Sævar Sigurgeirsson and the song entitled Þar til storminn hefur lægt ( Until the storm subsided ).

Cover versions

  • 2020: Max Giesinger , the German pop singer covered the piece during the seventh season of the VOX show Sing mein Song - Das Tauschkonzert . The piece was released as a promo single on May 19, 2020. Giesinger's new interpretation reached position 34 in the German download charts. The cover version can also be found on the “Deluxe Edition” of the TV sampler, which was released on May 22, 2020.
