Max Giesinger (born October 3, 1988 in Waldbronn ) is a German singer , songwriter and music producer . In February 2012, he took fourth place in the first season of the singing casting show The Voice of Germany .

Life

Giesinger comes from Busenbach (Waldbronn) , a district of Waldbronn in the Karlsruhe district . His parents separated when he was three years old. He grew up as an only child with his mother. At the age of 13 he played in his first band , the Deadly Punks. At the age of 20 he played in the Bud Spencer Group, Sovereign Point and as a solo project Maxville, and did 70 gigs a year alongside school. He graduated from high school in Karlsbad . He then traveled to Australia and New Zealand for a work & travel program , where he worked as a street musician . Since 2006, Giesinger has regularly uploaded cover versions to the Internet video portal YouTube , as well as songs he wrote himself. In these, he usually accompanies himself with the guitar . His most viewed video with over four million clicks until 2016 was a version of Gotye's song Somebody That I Used to Know , which he recorded with Michael Schulte in 2012 . After returning to Germany, Giesinger applied to the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg in Mannheim . There he had been part of the Bandpool band funding program since the beginning of 2011 , but was not admitted as a student because he failed the entrance examination.

In 2011 he took part in the singing casting show The Voice of Germany . He was elected through the vote of the callers through the first three live shows up to the semifinals. The song with which he appeared on the first live show, a cover of the Coldplay song Fix You , then placed in the German charts through download sales. With the support of his coach Xavier Naidoo , he reached the final of the show on February 10, 2012, in which he finished fourth. His song Dach der Welt then reached number 14 in the German charts. This was followed by a first tour of Germany with performances in twelve cities. In 2013 Giesinger released the EP Unser Sommer and then went on his second tour of Germany In this city .

After separating from his label due to differences over the collaboration, Giesinger started a crowdfunding campaign on Startnext in February 2014 to finance his first album. Giesinger published his debut album to learn to walk on his own with the help of Rent a Record Company . The second album The Boy Who Runs was recorded in Mannheim and Großenbrode . This time he managed to win another label for the publication with BMG . In addition, the previously released single 80 million became a radio hit and entered the German charts in early April 2016. Two weeks later, the album reached number 20 on the German charts and also entered the Swiss charts . After taking in a new version of 80 million for the European Football Championship in 2016 , it reached number 2 in the German charts. On September 16, 2016, Wenn sie tanzt was released, the second single from the album, which also reached the top 10 of the German single charts in December 2016. With the beginning of the 2018 edition of The Voice Kids , Giesinger replaced the singer Sasha as coach. On November 23, 2018 Giesinger released his third studio album Die Reise with 13 songs.

Max Giesinger has been the ambassador of Herzenssache , the children's aid campaign run by SWR, SR and Sparda-Bank, since 2016 , and is committed to helping disadvantaged children and young people in his home country.

In the summer of 2019 he was a jury member at The Masked Singer . On August 23, 2019, he released the duet Auf das What's noch gehts with the German singer-songwriter Lotte .

In May 2020, his songs kicked off the seventh season of the TV show Sing my Song - The Exchange Concert .
