“To what is still to come.
For every stumble, every failure.
It all brings us a little further to us.
To what is still to come.
To what is still to come.
To euphoria and everything easy.
Hope it will stay that way for us for a long time.
To what is still to come. "

- Refrain, original excerpt

The lyrics to Auf das, what's coming is written in German . The music and the text were written and composed jointly by Max Giesinger, Jules Kalmbacher, Charlotte Rezbach (Lotte) and Jens Schneider. Musically, the song moves in the area of pop music . The tempo is 120 beats per minute . In terms of content, the song is about friendship , life and moments of happiness . In an interview with Michael Patrick Kelly during the seventh season of Sing mein Song - Das Tauschkonzert , Giesinger described the piece as a “hymn to going on and getting up again and again”. He processes various low points himself that he had to accept on the way to becoming a musician, such as third or fourth places in music competitions with his bands, cancellations from music colleges such as the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg or the low after his participation in The Voice of Germany , where after the brief hype from the music show he was down again and had to accept rejections from record companies.

The song is based on two verses, a bridge and a chorus . The song begins with the first stanza, the first part of which is sung by Giesinger alone and the second part in a duet. The first verse is followed by a so-called two-line "pre-chorus" as an introduction to the chorus, before the actual chorus follows. Both parts are sung in a duet by Giesinger and Lotte. The same process is repeated with the second stanza, only that the second stanza is sung completely in a duet. The second chorus is followed by a bridge sung about together, followed by the pre-chorus again, which is sung by Lotte alone. The song ends with the third chorus sung together.

Similarity to Sympathy by Lost

The German-language website klatsch-tratsch.de saw great similarities to the piece Sympathy by the Austrian music producer Lost. The piece is a collaboration with the Austrian band Einfach Flo and was released two weeks before Auf das what's still to come on August 9, 2019. Bernhard Kaufmann from Karmarama (management of Lost) said on request from klatsch-tratsch.de : “ We recently noticed the similarity of the songs by Lotte and Max Giesinger and the song by the producer Lost, and we were surprised that the songwriting of two songs that were released shortly afterwards sometimes coincides. ”The management does not want to proceed legally. “In the meantime, however, Max Giesinger's management called us and we all think that it is probably a coincidence. Max and Lotte are great musicians and, as you can hear, they have a good sense for strong melodies. And that also applies to Lost, as you can hear on the chorus. All fine!"
