Radio Galaxy is a private radio broadcaster that can be received in Bavaria and parts of Hesse and is based in Regensburg .

The station uses its "Young CHR " format, i. H. Black, hip-hop, dance, house and pop, especially for 14 to 26 year olds. Radio Galaxy is operated by "Digitale Rundfunk Bayern GmbH & Co. KG", while " Funkhaus Regensburg GmbH & Co. Studiobetriebs KG" is responsible for programming .

The 24-hour program from Radio Galaxy with the programs Radio Galaxy in the morning (Monday to Friday 9 am to 12 noon), Radio Galaxy in the afternoon / afternoon (Monday to Friday 12 pm to 4 pm) and a number of program channels at the weekend there will be production in the Funkhaus Regensburg.

From Monday to Friday, the VHF locations broadcast their own local program with regional topics and local moderators with a morning broadcast (6:00 am to 9:00 am) and Radio Galaxy pm (4:00 pm to 7:00 pm). There are also daily Stars & Stories with news from the music business as well as concert and party tips in the Radio Galaxy Guide .

At the beginning of 2011, the Radio Galaxy Aschaffenburg location advertised a death insurance with a competition: listeners should write the “coolest” last word. The Federal Association of German Undertakers, on the other hand, sued for unfair competition.

The comedy series Daily Hubert , which was broadcast until 2012, was nominated for the German Radio Prize 2011 in the “Best Comedy” category.

Since 2003, the national marketing of the Bavarian youth radio brand has been running through Studio Gong from Nuremberg. The regional marketing is taken over by the individual local stations. Until 2003 Radio Galaxy was marketed nationwide by SpotCom GmbH & Co. KG, Munich.

history

The Radio Galaxy program went on air throughout Bavaria in January 2000 initially as a pure DAB or cable program. Since December 2000, Radio Galaxy in Aschaffenburg could also be received locally via VHF (91.6 MHz). Another 11 local locations followed, which now supply a large part of the Bavarian cities via VHF. The Bavarian metropolitan areas of Munich, Nuremberg, Augsburg, Regensburg and Würzburg are excluded. At the start of Radio Galaxy, independent youth formats had already been established here. On August 1, 2012, broadcasting via DAB was discontinued and replaced by DAB + .

Radio Galaxy can be received in many Bavarian cities via VHF and is also broadcast in various regions of Bavaria via DAB +. In addition, Radio Galaxy is digitally fed into the cable networks of numerous metropolitan areas in Bavaria. Live streams are offered on the broadcaster's website .

In Upper Franconia , Radio Galaxy has been receivable via DAB + since November 29, 2017, the analog frequencies UKW 94.0 MHz in Hof (Saale) , UKW 97.3 MHz in Wunsiedel , UKW 98.1 MHz in Münchberg , UKW 96.5 MHz in Naila and UKW 93.4 MHz in Selb went to the competitor extra-radio from Hof.

Amalgamation

The formerly independent local stations Bamberg, Coburg, Hof and Kulmbach have been broadcasting as "Radio Galaxy Oberfranken" from Bamberg since July 2016, the regional studios have been given up.

The Bayreuth local station has also been part of the aforementioned network since January 2017.

Radio Galaxy Award

The Radio Galaxy Award has been given to newcomers in the music industry since 2001. These are already well known among the German public, but are still at the beginning of their artistic careers. Bands and singers from Bavaria are favored here . The award ceremony takes place on the occasion of the International Local Broadcasting Days in Nuremberg .
