German Radio Prize

The German Radio Prize has been awarded since 2010 for radio programs produced in Germany and their makers. According to the statutes, it is awarded for services "which demonstrate and emphasize the strengths and possibilities of the medium in a special way through their quality and which thus also have an exemplary effect".

Benefactor

The German Radio Prize is donated by the radio programs of ARD , Deutschlandradios and private radio stations in Germany. The cooperation partners include the Grimme Institute in Marl, the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg , the radio headquarters and the radio marketers AS&S Radio GmbH and RMS . Norddeutscher Rundfunk, NDR is in charge of the project .

Awarding

An eleven-member jury is appointed by the Grimme Institute and consists of journalists, program managers and experts. It is responsible for both the three nominations in each category and for determining the winners. It awards prizes in ten to eleven categories (best presenter, best presenter, best newcomer, best morning show, best comedy, best news and information format, best report, best interview, best program action, best innovation, best program). All prizes are undoped honorary prizes. The 11-member advisory board of the German Radio Prize awarded a “Special Prize for the Lifetime Achievement” of a radio person from 2010 to 2014 and a “Special Music Prize” from 2010 to 2016.

Award

The German Radio Prize is awarded as part of a gala event that is broadcast live by public and private radio stations and as a video stream on the Internet. They broadcast the third TV programs on ARD with a time delay. From 2010 to 2016 and 2018 the gala took place in "Schuppen 52" in the Port of Hamburg, and in 2017 and 2019 in the Elbphilharmonie . The event has been moderated by Barbara Schöneberger since 2011 . The first event in 2010 was moderated by Katrin Müller-Hohenstein . In addition, the gala will be commented live by two annually changing radio hosts.

The first awarding of the German Radio Prize took place on September 17, 2010 in Schuppen 52 in the Port of Hamburg . The gala was moderated by Katrin Müller-Hohenstein , accompanied on the radio by commentators Susanka Bersin ( bigFM ) and Thomas Mohr ( NDR 2 ).

The second award ceremony took place on September 8, 2011 again in Shed 52 in the Port of Hamburg. The host was the moderator Barbara Schöneberger . Sabine Beck ( 105'5 Spreeradio ) and Thomas Mohr (NDR 2) commented on the gala .

The third award ceremony took place on September 6, 2012 in Schuppen 52 in the Port of Hamburg and was moderated by Barbara Schöneberger. The broadcast was commented live for all radio stations by Susanka Bersin (bigFM) and Andreas Kuhlage ( N-JOY ).

As in previous years, the venue for the fourth presentation of the German Radio Prize was the Schuppen 52 event center in the Port of Hamburg on September 5, 2013.
