In his Tübingen lecture as part of the media lectureship on the subject of the war of words - fact, fake and the new power of lies , Mascolo urged journalists to admit mistakes and correct false reports. Kristine Keck quotes him in the Stuttgarter Zeitung that he has evaded this obligation for most of his professional life, like most other journalists . Journalists have ignored the threat to their credibility for too long. In his portrayal of fake news and propaganda techniques, Mascolo also emphasized the strengthening of the role of the state and, at the same time, the responsibility of internet companies and the media.
