Jörg Michael Pilawa (born September 7, 1965 in Hamburg ) is a German television presenter .

education

After High School on school Hummelsbuettel in Hamburg studied Pilawa two years medicine that broke study but by not passing Physikum and went for a year to Israel in a Kibbutz . Then he began to study history , which he also dropped out.

Pilawa began working for radio and television while still a student . From 1987 he was a presenter at Radio Schleswig-Holstein (R.SH).

Television career

Pilawa began his television career in 1994 on the private broadcaster ProSieben , hosting the show 2 gegen 2 . In 1996 Pilawa switched to Sat.1 , where he ran , among other things, the Bundesliga magazine , the talk show Jörg Pilawa and The Quiz Show (first quiz show on July 25, 2001). In 2001 Pilawa switched to ARD , where he hosted the flirt show Herzblatt for three years . On March 19, 2004 he hosted the German preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2004 on ARD under the name Germany 12 Points! together with Sarah Kuttner . Pilawa also moderates various sporting events for ARD, at which celebrities were involved in sports.

From August 2001 to December 2007 he moderated the NDR Talk Show , first with Alida Gundlach , from April 2002 together with Julia Westlake , and from July 2001 to September 2010 the quiz show Das Quiz with Jörg Pilawa . Four to six times a year Jörg Pilawa also moderated the special program Star Quiz with Jörg Pilawa in the main evening program of ARD and television formats such as PISA - the country test (since 2003), How old are you really? (2006), Ask the Mouse (2006 to 2009), Pilawa's great history quiz (since 2006) and Pilawa's great fairy tale quiz (since 2007). In January 2012, Pilawa was ZDF's preferred candidate for hosting the TV show Wetten, dass ..? On April 14, 2012, the first episode of Super-Champion 2012 was broadcast on ZDF. In 2001 Jörg Pilawa founded White Balance GmbH , which among other things was involved in the production of his daily quiz show in the ARD's evening program. In November 2005 he sold the company to MME Moviement AG , which in turn was integrated into the British All3Media group in mid-2007 .

Pilawa is the managing director of Mr. P. GmbH based in Hamburg. The business purpose of this company is the creation and implementation of concepts in the media sector (print, radio and television) as well as management, controlling, marketing and mediation of programs and moderators. In February 2011 it was announced that Endemol had a 51 percent stake in this company and that Endemol Germany boss Marcus Wolter would be appointed as managing director alongside Pilawa. On January 1, 2018, Pilawa became the sole shareholder and managing director of Mr. P. GmbH again . In June 2018, Pilawa appointed its long-time creative director Kerstin Nerge as managing director.

Jörg Pilawa was also the co-owner of the men's outfitter herrensache in Hamburg from 2006 to 2015 .

Since June 2020 Pilawa has been offering a free online quiz site Pilawa-Quiz.de to play along with. A new quiz is published every day from Monday to Friday, with which registered players in the "Pilawas Quiz League" collect points. Private

Pilawa is Catholic and comes from the Hamburg district of Poppenbüttel . He has three children with his third wife, Irina Opaschowski, a daughter of Horst Opaschowski , who is a teacher by profession. He has another son from his second marriage. The family lives in Hamburg-Bergedorf. The marriage took place on May 2, 2006 in the Congo , where the Pilawas also support Welthungerhilfe .

In 2009 Pilawa bought the 36,000 m² Hunt Island in Ponhook Lake in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia .

Volunteering

Pilawa has been an ambassador for the Schau hin! Initiative since 2009 . , In 2012 and 2013 he was an honorary ambassador for Aktion Mensch . He did not receive a fee for his work at the social lottery. Pilawa regularly visited projects funded by Aktion Mensch. Every Sunday he presented the program 5-Sterne - Winner of Aktion Mensch on ZDF . There he announced the winning numbers for the “Aktion Mensch” lottery and presented projects that were funded. Rudi Cerne has been taking on this task since January 2014 . In addition, Pilawa is active as an ambassador for the World Future Council .
