Rudi Cerne (born September 26, 1958 in Wanne-Eickel ) is a German sports journalist , television presenter and former figure skater who started in a single run .

Sports career

Rudi Cerne last started as a figure skater for the Herner EV . His trainer was Günter Zöller .

In 1978 and 1980 Cerne won the German championship in figure skating . He celebrated his greatest international success in 1984 when he won the silver medal at the European Championships in Budapest . In the same year he also achieved his best result at world championships. In Ottawa , he finished fifth. At the 1984 Olympic Games in Sarajevo , he narrowly missed a medal in fourth. At the end of the season, Cerne ended his active career as a competitive athlete and became a professional at Holiday on Ice . At times, he led the ice cream revue shows as a conférencier. At the same time, he began training as a figure skating coach , which he broke off to devote himself to television journalism.

Television career

Cerne came to television journalism through various internships and became a freelancer at WDR and HR . He reported live for the ARD from figure skating events and dance tournaments. From 1992 he presented ARD sports programs. In 1996 he switched to ZDF and hosted the current sports studio from February 20, 1999 to January 14, 2006, alternating with colleagues . In 2005 he moderated the Tour de France .

In addition to his work as a sports presenter, Cerne has been presenting the show Aktenzeichen XY ... unselöst since January 18, 2002 . He also played in The Rosenheim Cops in the episode A Night with Consequences . He also moderates the sports section of ZDF heute and ZDF heute journal . Cerne has been an ambassador for Aktion Mensch since 2014 . He moderates the drawing program "Aktion Mensch-Winner" on ZDF every Sunday at 7:28 pm.

Rudi Cerne attended the Josefschule in Herne in Westphalia from 1965 , after graduating from high school he studied sport and biology for a higher teaching position without completing his studies. He had to repeat two school years, the 7th and 9th grades. He has been married since 1987 and lives with his wife and daughter (* 1990) in Rodenbach near Hanau.

His father was a master craftsman and hobby ice skater. Because a leg that had to be amputated was shot to death in Russia during World War II, he could no longer ice skate after the war.

On December 27, 1978, Cerne was mistaken for the wanted terrorist Christian Klar at Düsseldorf Airport and taken into custody for a short time.

In 2014 he was awarded the Bavarian State Medal for Internal Security .
