Butz Peters
Butz Peters (born January 22, 1958 in Hanover ) is a German lawyer , moderator , journalist and author .
education
Butz Peters studied law with a minor in journalism at the universities of Hanover , Göttingen , Lausanne and Vienna . After completing an internship at the Norddeutscher Rundfunk, he trained as a radio and television journalist in 1984.

Peters then worked in various editorial offices in public TV and radio, where he primarily dealt with the topics of crime and media law. In 1988 he received the journalism award of the Standing Conference of Interior Ministers and Senators for the best radio report on the subject of preventive crime prevention . In 1991 he was awarded the Nick Knatterton honor cap from the Association of German Detective Officers for special commitment in the field of crime prevention and control.
In 1993, Peters became managing director and editor-in-chief of the private broadcaster Antenne Sachsen . From 1997 to 2001 he moderated the ZDF show Aktenzeichen XY ... unsolved by Eduard Zimmermann .
Lawyer
As a lawyer, Peters was a partner in Matthias Prinz's law firm in Hamburg from 1996 to 2001 and a member of the media law firm Brehm & v. Moers in Berlin. There he mainly dealt with the topics of media law and labor law . From 2012 to 2018 he was a partner in the law firm Heinemann & Peters in Dresden, which ceased its activity on July 1, 2018. Peters currently works for the Tiefenbacher law firm in Dresden. As a lawyer, he specializes in the law of parliamentary committees of inquiry, as well as civil law media and entertainment law, copyright and publishing law, as well as labor law in the media industry.
According to an article by Telepolis , Peters is regularly commissioned by the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution to act as a witness when informants or informers' leaders are summoned as witnesses in trials or committees of inquiry.
RAF expert
Peters has written four books on the Red Army Faction . Most recently, in his book 1977 - RAF versus Federal Republic , he devotes himself to the events of 1977, which is considered to be the key year of the RAF terror.
Butz Peters is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the “Landshut” project , which accompanies the Dornier Museum in the development and implementation of the exhibition about the hijacking of the “Landshut” plane .
