Hitradio RTL is a private radio broadcaster from Saxony . It started broadcasting on July 12, 2004. Hitradio RTL emerged from a relaunch of Hit-Radio Antenne Sachsen . Hitradio RTL's headquarters are in the Ammonhof in Dresden. This is where the station shares its headquarters with Radio Dresden and Apollo radio .

Broadcast Sachsen GmbH & Co. KG provides the Hitradio RTL program. This continues to equip the six radio waves of the Saxony radio package . The repertoire of the station with the slogan 80s, 90s, 100% Saxon sound includes music since the 1980s.

General information

Hitradio RTL broadcasts a full 24-hour program. The program is adapted to the listeners' wishes and needs as well as the results of market research. The main focus of the station is on the adult contemporary format, as the 25 to 49 year old listeners are of particular interest as a target group. The cornerstones of the program are news every full hour, headlines and short messages every half hour, as well as the traffic service. The broadcaster also organizes promotions, events and entertainment, as well as programs for families.

The entire Hitradio RTL program is put together in Dresden. Individual regional contributions come from the local studios of the Saxony radio package . Hitradio RTL has been holding Stars For Free, a large free festival in Saxony, once a year since 2013 .

history

The founder was Thomas Heilmann . On April 1, 1993, Antenne Sachsen went on air for the first time. Antenne Sachsen broadcast its “Adult Contemporary Music Format” with a focus on oldies and had a relatively high word share of 30 percent. In doing so, the station was targeting an affluent audience between 30 and 49 years of age. On August 4, 1998, the private broadcaster was renamed Hit-Radio Antenne Sachsen without prior notice and received a new logo. In addition, the previous "hit / oldie format" was abandoned. In the following years, however, Hit-Radio Antenne Sachsen lost its audience. Various program reforms such as the introduction of the “fifty-fifty mix” initially did not stop the downward trend. In 2004, a new team with Klaus Morell as the new managing director took over, followed by Jürgen Kaul as the new program director.

A restart took place on July 12, 2004 and Hit-Radio Antenne Sachsen was replaced by Hitradio RTL - Wir sind Sachsen . With the greatest hits of all time, more regionality in Saxony and the strong RTL Group brand “RTL” behind it, the station is starting a new future. Hitradio RTL - Wir sind Sachsen has been produced by the newly founded Broadcast Sachsen GmbH since January 1, 2005 , to which the Sachsen radio package has been a part since then . Tino Utassy became the company's new managing director . The previous managing director Klaus Morell received new tasks within the station and left it in 2009. When the managing director changed, the company was renamed Hitradio RTL Sachsen , with the slogan We are Saxony dropped. In May 2005 the company moved to the Ammonhof near the World Trade Center Dresden , where the station moved into a new broadcasting studio under the roof that has since been shared with Radio Dresden and the soundjack tonstudios .

On June 23, 2008, the station received a new format that was changed to "Adult Contemporary". Almost only current hits were played and a new jingle package was also used. The station got the name Hitradio RTL . The program was clearly geared towards a younger audience: the slogan of the station was now Saxony's new music mix . Incidentally, the music selection at Hitradio RTL has been changed again since 2019; "Music from the 80s and 90s" has since made up a large share.

Broadcast house

The program has been produced by Radio Dresden since October 1998 in Ammonhof (Ammonstraße 35) in Dresden. Hitradio RTL sits there under the same roof as Radio Dresden . Hitradio RTL has had its broadcasting house on Breitscheidstrasse since it started broadcasting. Also in May 2005 Hitradio RTL received two new broadcasting studios. In August 2016, the renovation of the studio technology began. A completely new and larger main broadcast studio was created, which was supplemented by a new, smaller back-up studio in June 2017.
