Werner Rittberger (born July 13, 1891 in Potsdam , † August 12, 1975 in Krefeld ) was a German figure skater who started in a single run .

Life

Rittberger was the most successful German figure skater between 1911 and 1928. He was eleven times German champion (1911-1913, 1920-1926, 1928), three times vice world champion ( 1910 , 1911 , 1912 ) and twice vice European champion ( 1910 , 1925 ).

The “ Rittberger Jump” (“Loop”), which is part of the freestyle program of every competition, is named after him . After the Second World War he was an international judge and trainer in Krefeld. At the 1956 Winter Olympics , he was referee of the men's competition in figure skating.

The Werner-Rittberger-Halle was named after him in Krefeld. In 2017 Werner Rittberger was inducted into the " Figure Skating Hall of Fame ".
