Rittberger

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Rittberger is a leap forward in figure skating and roller figure skating ( roller sports ). It owes its name to the multiple German Vice World Champion Werner Rittberger . The name "Rittberger" has not caught on in the English-speaking world, where the term "loop (jump)" is used.

execution

The runner first slides both legs backwards on the ice. Then he shifts his weight onto his right leg, which has to be pressed firmly into the ice in the right-hand bend in order not to slip. Finally, the runner jumps backwards and turns once or several times by 360 degrees each (single, double or triple Rittberger). The Rittberger is landed on the leg on which he is jumped.

history

The first triple Rittberger in the men was Richard Button at the Olympic Games in 1952 and in the women Gaby Seyfert in 1968. In 1996, Éric Millot was the first to show a triple-Rittberger-triple-Rittberger combination.

On September 30, 2016, the Japanese Yuzuru Hanyu was the first figure skater to successfully land a four-time Rittberger in an international competition at the Autumn Classic International 2016 in Pierrefonds.
