Tilo Gutzeit

Tilo Gutzeit (born January 27, 1938 ) is a former German figure skater .

Tilo Gutzeit was German champion in men's figure skating in 1955. In the following years he was also four times German runner-up behind Manfred Schnelldorfer . In the period from 1955 to 1960 he took part in five European championships as well as world championships . At the European Championships, he never placed worse than seventh. His best result was fifth in 1956 and 1960 . At the world championships, his best result was also fifth place, which he achieved in 1960 . Gutzeit took part in the Winter Olympics in 1956 and 1960 and finished tenth and ninth, respectively. He started for the Düsseldorfer EG.

At the German Championships in 1955, due to a miscalculation, he was initially only awarded the silver medal and the only 12-year-old Manfred Schnelldorfer was named German Champion. The mistake was only discovered months later by the then judge Werner Rittberger , and the result was corrected. The medals were also exchanged.

Tilo Gutzeit was also traded as a possible pair skater for Marika Kilius after the couple Marika Kilius and Franz Ningel separated because of the unfavorable proportions. However, Kilius decided on Hans-Jürgen Bäumler .
