Peter Liebers (born April 16, 1988 in East Berlin ) is a former German figure skater who started in a single run .

Peter Liebers is the son of Kerstin and Mario Liebers and brother of Martin Liebers ; the latter two were or are also figure skaters. The SC Berlin athlete trained with Romy Austria and Jürgen Bertko , and is currently being looked after by Viola Striegler .

Liebers' figure skating career has been overshadowed by several setbacks. In July 2005 he injured his ankle during a course ; from September he was able to train again. In October 2006, Liebers broke in training the fibula and had to sit out the entire season.

On his comeback to the German Championships in 2008, the Berliner took second place behind Clemens Brummer . He finished thirteenth at the European Championships in 2008 in Zagreb , Croatia, where he showed a four-fold toe loop and a three-fold axel in the freestyle (11th place) and was able to advance from his 21st place to 15th place after the short program. At the World Championships in 2008 in Gothenburg , Sweden and in 2009 in Los Angeles , he was eliminated after the short program (places 32 and 25). Peter Liebers qualified to take part in the Senior Grand Prix Series 2008/2009 and 2009/2010. He won his first international senior medal at the Nebelhorn Trophy in 2010.

In 2011 he won his second championship title at the German Championships in Oberstdorf with an outstanding 210.07 points and qualified for the European and World Championships in 2011. At the European Championships in Bern , he finished eleventh. At the World Cup in Moscow , Liebers was able to qualify for the finals for the first time at a World Cup and achieved his best World Cup result to date with 15th place.

In the summer of 2011, Peter Liebers broke his leg again while training in Canada. Because he was several months behind in training, he had to cancel the Grand Prix series.

In 2013, Liebers achieved his best placings at these tournaments with tenth place at the European championship and eleventh place at the world championship .

In 2014 he was able to improve again with sixth place at the European Championships . At the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi , after finishing fifth in the short program, he ran the freestyle in the starting group of the world's best and reached eighth place.

Liebers won the gold medal at the 2015 Winter Universiade .

In June 2014 Peter Liebers married the former Mannheim figure skater and German runner-up Denise Zimmermann ; he has a son with his wife.

In January 2018, Liebers announced the end of his career. At the European Championship he could not compete because of an injury, it should have been his last competition.

Liebers is the spokesman for the German Ice Skating Union .Template: future / in 4 years
