pirouette - international magazine for ice sports and roller sports is a specialist magazine for figure skating and roller skating . Until the mid-1980s it was an association organ of the German Ice Skating Union .

history

The pirouette was founded in 1968 by Hans W. Petersen in Bremerhaven as a specialist journal for the entire ice sport and initially also dealt with sports such as curling and ice hockey . It was published by Ditzen-Verlag before moving to Wagner Verlag in Stuttgart in 1975 .
Petersen's successor as editor-in-chief was SDR television journalist Guido Dobbratz , who, together with his sister Birgit, had become a Baden-Württemberg ice dancing champion in the early 1970s . In 2009 STS-Verlag + Werbung took over the publication under the direction of Stefan Schulze . The editor-in-chief is Klaus-Reinhold Kany.

The magazine appears monthly, with two double issues in summer (May / June, July / August). The edition is 3000 copies.

As a permanent employee of the magazine, u. a. the former Swiss figure skater Sarah Meier works.

Since there is no similar specialist magazine in Austria or Switzerland, pirouette is also aimed at readers from these countries with corresponding articles.
