The main part of the place and the Val da la Duana belong orographically to the Val Bregaglia, while the Madris, traversed by the Madrid Rhine and larger than the other areas of the place combined, belongs to the catchment area of the Rhine and thus to the north side of the Alps.

In Soglio bowl stones and a stone slab grave as well as two Etruscan bronze vessels were found near Spino. Soglio is the home of the von Salis noble family from Graubünden , who have influenced the region for centuries.
In 2015 Soglio was voted the “most beautiful village in Switzerland”.
Community merger
Until 2009 the place was an independent political municipality. On January 1, 2010, the municipalities of Bergell ( Bondo , Castasegna , Soglio, Stampa and Vicosoprano ) merged to form the new municipality of Bregaglia .
