The Madrischer Rhein (also: Aegua da Madris ) is an approximately 14 km long left and southern tributary of the Avers Rhine in the Swiss canton of Graubünden .

geography

course

The Madrischer Rhine caused by the confluence of Mazzabach and Plotta Rossa Bach at 2,420  meters above sea level. M. a little north of the watershed to Bergell . At almost 2000  m above sea level M. another large tributary flows from the left from the Val da Lägh . From here the valley of the river stretches due north and is called Madris . Shortly afterwards it flows through an elongated, approximately 6 hectare reservoir near Preda . The valley is only sparsely populated up to the confluence with the Avers Rhine near Cröt ; there is no village, just a few scattered houses.

Catchment area

The southern catchment area of the river belongs to the municipality of Bregaglia in the Maloja region , the northern to the municipality of Avers in the Viamala region of the Swiss canton of Graubünden .

Across the border with Italy on the western watershed, the valley of the Reno di Lei runs roughly parallel with the large reservoir Lago di Lei , whose water also flows into the Avers Rhine from the left below the Madrischer Rhine.

The highest mountain in the south, mostly over 2800  m above sea level. M. high total watershed is the 3107  m above sea level. M. high pizz Gallagiun . On its south side lies the Mera valley with the villages of Chiavenna and Soglio , which drains into the Adriatic via Adda and Po , so that the southern section is part of the main European watershed between the North Sea and the Mediterranean.

In the east the sub-catchment areas of the left tributary Bergalgabach and in the north the direct one of the Avers Rhine above the Madrid Rhine border.
