Madris
The Madris ( Rhaeto-Romanic or ) is a side valley of the Avers high valley in the canton of Graubünden .
Politically it is divided and belongs in the lower part to Avers, where it forms a neighborhood , and in the upper part to Soglio in the Bergell district . The valley is traversed by the Madrischer Rhein .
In 2002, 11 residents lived in the hamlets of Stettli and Höjahus all year round. The upper valley was developed as a settlement area by Chiavenna and Piuro in the 14th century , while the lower valley was originally pastureland for Rhaeto-Romans until it was settled by Walsers in the High Middle Ages .
