The Viamala region is an administrative unit of the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland , which was created as a result of the regional reform on January 1, 2016.

Except for the municipality of Mutten (changed from the Albula district on January 1, 2016 ), the Viamala region is identical to the Hinterrhein district that existed until December 31, 2015 . However, the districts of Avers , Rheinwald , Schams and Thusis were dissolved on December 31, 2015, the Domleschg district remained in existence until December 31, 2017 for supra- municipal tasks.
